Bremerton, WA — A new education program launched by the Kitsap Building
Association is helping local builders strengthen the business side of their companies.
“We are self-taught to this point and look forward to confirming what we are doing right
and what we can improve upon,” said Cara of Siemens Woodworking, a custom
cabinetry and woodworking company serving Kitsap County.
Siemens Woodworking specializes in custom cabinetry, millwork, and detailed wood
craftsmanship for residential projects, providing locally built, high-quality woodworking
solutions for homeowners across the region.
Cara is one of several participants in the Construction Business School, an 11-week
program created by the Kitsap Building Association to provide contractors, builders, and
construction professionals with practical training in running successful businesses.
The program brings together industry experts to cover topics including financial
management, bookkeeping and QuickBooks, financial statements, taxation, insurance,
contracts, and operational best practices.
“Across Kitsap County we have incredibly talented craftsmen and trades professionals,”
said Mescha Manietta of the Kitsap Building Association. “Many of them started their
companies after working for builders who retired or downsized. They know the craft, but
running a business is a completely different skill set. Construction Business School was
designed to help fill those gaps.”
The program was intentionally structured so that companies can send multiple team
members — including office staff, estimators, project managers, and field supervisors —
helping construction companies strengthen the systems behind their operations.
As the region continues to grow and address housing needs, the Kitsap Building
Association says programs like Construction Business School are critical to supporting
the long-term stability of local builders and trades businesses.
“Strong builders create strong communities,” Manietta said. “By helping companies
improve their business practices, we’re investing in the future of housing, jobs, and
economic stability here in Kitsap County.”
The Kitsap Building Association plans to continue offering the Construction Business
School in future sessions as demand grows.
